In addition to volunteer opportunities in our consulting group, there are also opportunities for community service the OneSource Center Shoppers Club.

Beyond office furniture offerings, the Shoppers Club also features new items in our Marketplace area which go to help nonprofits fill operational needs. Items are obtained from corporate donations, and through shipments from Good 360. (Good 360 is a national nonprofit that channels corporate donations through redistribution partners for nonprofit use. OneSource Center is the only redistribution partner in our region.) Donations of new items come to us by the truckload, and then need to be sorted, priced and displayed.

Volunteers are needed for regular service (i.e. a set day each week, bi-weekly, etc.) but scheduling can also be flexible to accommodate travel, etc.

Pictured above are Beth Wayne (left) and Rose Andriacco, who come for a couple hours weekly, and chose to work together because they enjoyed working as a “team.” Beth, a corporate attorney, said she wanted to have a volunteer opportunity where she could have a “hands on” impact. They both see the work as fulfilling and gratifying as they see how agencies are using the items from our Shoppers Club shelves.

TechSoup taped its free “COVID-19 Webinar “ providing a crash course in all of the nonprofit specific training courses that have been developed by TechSoup and Microsoft to help nonprofits get the most out of the tools they already have.

NPQ has a 3-part webinar series on response to COVID-19. The first webinar is on April 9 at 3 p.m. EST titled “A Dialogue with Foundation Leaders about Philanthropy’s Response”

There are many trusted sources for general information, but The Chronicals of Philanthropy has published a collection of articles on how nonprofits can respond to the Coronavirus outbreak and a special report as well.

Cincinnati Cares is striving to quantify the devastating impact COVID-19 is having on the region; to gather virtual volunteer needs from nonprofits; and to funnel volunteers into meaningful and safe virtual roles.

• Organizations and volunteers can add stories and impact data by going to the Cincinnati Cares website, and then going to the “COVID-19 Impact Stories” link. https://cincinnaticares.org/select-nonprofit/
• Nonprofits can add their individual organization’s needs for the website’s COVID-19 “Ways to Help Now” section once they register through the “COVID-19 Impact Stories” link.

Indiana nonprofits needing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to operate can purchase items at the IEDC Small Business PPE Marketplace.  To qualify, a business must be Indiana registered, employ fewer than 150 people.  The marketplace will help provide masks, hand sanitizer, and face shields. Initially, it will fulfill 10,000 requests for PPE bundles and that number is expected to rise as supplies are replenished.

“Meet Now” is Skype’s free answer to Zoom video calls. 

Nonprofits have been hit hard by the pandemic and the resulting economic crisis. Mental-health experts offer advice on how to relax and when to seek help. A recent Chronicles of Philanthropy article titled ” ‘Be Gentle’: How to Stay Healthy Emotionally During Social Isolation” addresses this topic.
