Nonprofits across Greater Cincinnati are facing increased uncertainty and disruption. Federal funding cuts and financial market turbulence are putting additional strain on organizations that provide essential services to our neighbors. According to a recent nonprofit survey released by United Way, in partnership with GCF and Interact for Health, two out of three nonprofits would reduce services or close within six months if federal funding stops. 
 
This is more than a social challenge—it’s an economic one, too. The 2024 Nonprofit Economic Impact Report shows that nonprofits in our region generated $2.9 billion in economic impact and more than 41,000 jobs in a single year.
 
The time to step up and support our nonprofit partners is now. GCF, in partnership with the City of Cincinnati, has awarded $836,000 through the Boots on the Ground Fund to 38 local nonprofits, strengthening their capacity and supporting frontline services. We are also mobilizing an additional $1 million for emergency funding and high-quality capacity building.
 
This moment is tough. But we remain confident in our community’s generosity, resilience, and shared commitment to each other. You’ve stepped up before, and now is the time to do so again.
 
If you are passionate about certain causes or care about the nonprofit community in our region, here’s how you can help:

• Make your annual gift early. It gives nonprofits critical flexibility in a time of great need.
• Give unrestricted. Trust nonprofits to apply funding where it’s needed most.
• Show appreciation. A note of encouragement can go a long way to sustain those doing the work.
