Rethinking “Business As Usual”

Nonprofits are certainly stressed with the over-arching impact of COVID-19. This has just increased the strain for organizations that already are working with too few resources.

Many nonprofits have utilized the consulting services of OneSource Center for Nonprofit Excellence, a resource center for area nonprofits. With funding from the Greater Cincinnati Foundation COVID-19 Relief Fund, and others, OneSource Center has provided “relaunch” services to guide organizations through the process of self-examination and focus refinement.

“During this time of upheaval and an uncertain future, it is wonderful to have a OneSource Center to call upon for help in navigating a path forward,” said Sue Hare, Executive Director of iSpace, a STEM learning place serving the Greater Cincinnati region with school programs and summer camps.

Vickie Ciotti, VP of Consulting Services, said many organizations have taken this time to examine their business, reexamining things like income stream, program reach and new areas for mission focus. Some organizations are looking at funding sources and exploring new avenues as funds are diverted to COVID response. (more…)

OneSource Center Proud to Support Community Makeover 2020

OneSource Center was proud to once again be a supporter of the annual Community Makeover, coordinated through the Red’s Community Fund  on Thursday, August 6.  The 2020 project, serving the community of Avondale, was scaled back from previous plans due to COVID-19 guidelines.  But, even with the smaller scope, OneSource Center was able to provide access to furnishing from its Shoppers Club including file cabinets and shelving for South Avondale Elementary to help the school prepare for the return of students next month.

Included in the project were interior upgrades to the food pantry and “groom room,” which provides clothes, supplies, changing rooms and other necessities for the nearly 400 students. Exterior work included painting, mulching and installing picnic benches for an outdoor classroom.  Additional volunteers assembled backpacks with school supplies and personal care products. These items are being made available to students and families from both South Avondale Elementary as well as nearby Rockdale Academy.

“OneSource Center was proud to collaborate with the Reds Community Fund,  Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and others during these challenging times to creatively come up with ways to make our community stronger,” said Christie Brown, OneSource Center CEO.  “Nonprofits, schools and government entities are all able to utilize our consulting, training and Shoppers Club resources.  We want to help!”

Pictured are items being unloaded by OneSource Center staff and others at the South Avondale Elementary School that were used in rooms that provide needed supplies to students.
