Duke Energy Grant Applications due April 30

Duke Energy Workforce Development and Training Grant applications are due on April 30. These grants support workforce development programs that address the most pressing skills gaps in local communities. Programs addressing skills gaps; programs cultivating the energy-sector’s future workforce; and programs serving under-represented, low-income or diverse audiences, including women and minorities, will be given preference in this grant cycle. “CARES Act Tips and Insight: Resources and Implications for Your Nonprofit” Webinar

Join other nonprofit leaders on Tuesday, April 7, 2020, 3:30 p.m. for a webinar titled “Tips and Insight on CARES Act: Resources and Implications for Your Nonprofit.”  Presented by:  OneSource Center consultants, PAST Foundation, and Pro Bono Partnership of Ohio.    

Session will include:

  • OneSource consultants Brian Robson and Anne Cook will present an overview of the CARES Act legislation; strategic thinking on utilizing these resources; and an overview of implications for nonprofits.
  • PAST Foundation’s Annaliese Corbin will share a case study on how their organization will be utilizing this legislation.
  • Pro Bono Partnership of Ohio will offer legal perspective on best practices in CARES Act usage.
  • Q+A will take place after remarks from each panelist.

Foundation Directory Training for Grant Research

OneSource Center for Nonprofit Excellence and The Public Library of Cincinnati’s Grants Resource Center staff collaborated on April 1, 2020 to provide regional  nonprofits with remote training AND online access to nonprofit funding opportunities, normally only available with in-person library access.  Grants Librarian Kent Mulcahy provided  specialized training on use of The Foundation Directory Online.  For best usage, it is best to get training before using this tool.    

The Foundation Directory Online provides access to essential facts on grantmakers and their funding activities and is normally only available when visiting the Cincinnati library.  Through this special provision, users can pinpoint prospective funders, and visitors to the site can explore comprehensive databases plus do research based on their organization’s needs.

Horizon NKY Coronavirus Relief Fund

Horizon Community Funds of Northern Kentucky is quickly launching a new fund to support Northern Kentuckians facing increased crises or needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Horizon NKY Coronavirus Relief Fund aims to raise at least $4 million, with nearly half of that already committed. The Relief Fund will provide flexible financial assistance to nonprofits serving Boone, Campbell, and Kenton counties in Northern Kentucky that are experiencing increased demand for resources in response to the COVID-19 virus in our community.

To deploy resources rapidly, HCF will not be accepting requests for funding or posting a grant application but will work with community advisors and funders to identify organizations currently providing supports to Northern Kentucky residents that are aligned with the priorities of the Relief Fund to expand available resources and support.
