This grant program is designed to help individuals secure and retain employment by focusing on meeting ancillary needs with the ultimate goal to realize workforce stability and long-term success.
Targeted Types of Grants – Supporting Workforce Development Beyond Training
Examples of impactful programming include:
- Wrap Around Services: Connecting individuals to community resources for housing, healthcare, and mental health support, ensuring holistic stability.
- Transportation assistance: Providing reliable transportation options or subsidies so individuals can consistently get to work, especially in regions with limited public transit.
- Financial Mentoring: Offering financial literacy workshops, budgeting support, and access to financial counseling to help employees manage earnings and plan for the future.
- Workplace Supplies: Supplying necessary items such as work boots, tools, uniforms, and safety gear to remove barriers to job entry and retention.
- Childcare Support: Facilitating access to affordable childcare.

- Impact a diverse, at-risk underserved community or population
- Clearly defined impact on the community or affected audience
- Impact a Duke Energy Service area
Grants are not limited to the examples listed, nor are programs stemming from the listed examples guaranteed funding. Average grant award $10,000-$15,000.

- Grants will provide funding to support workforce development programs that meet the region’s pressing needs, deliver upskilling credentials to underserved and positively impact the local economies
