City of Cincinnati Office of Environmental Sustainability Works to Lower Utility Bills
Low-income tenants, on average, pay more for utilities than most other residents of Cincinnati. With 1 in 4 households in our city experiencing energy burden -paying more than 6% of monthly income on utilities – OES launched a suite of pilot programs aiming to address this issue through supporting energy efficiency efforts in apartment buildings.
Matching Grants for Building Owners
The City of Cincinnati offers grants each quarter for owners of multi-family buildings (2 or more units). The intent is to incentivize and double the impact of electric energy efficiency upgrades. Matching grants are available up to $5,000 per building,per quarter. Building(s) must be located within the City of Cincinnati. Fifty percent or more of building tenants must be at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) and responsible for individual unit electricity payments.Building Owners must present at least a 1:1 match. Funding provided by Duke Energy Ohio.
